What is Avita

Avita is a topical preparation of tretinoin that related to medication class known as retinoids It is used to treat acne.


Side effects of Avita

You should inform your doctor if the following side effects occur:

  • warmth or slight stinging of the skin
  • lightening or darkening of the skin
  • red, scaling skin
  • increase in acne sores
  • swelling, blistering or crusting of the skin


Indication

Avita is used to treat acne by affecting the growth of skin cells. It reduces the number and severity of acne pimples and promotes quick healing of pimples that do develop.


Precautions

It is very important to tell your doctor if you:

  • have an allergic reaction to avita or any other medicines
  • are taking other prescription and non-prescription medications, including vitamins.
  • are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are breastfeeding
  • plan to avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight and to wear protective clothing, sunglasses and sunscreen, because Avita can make your skin sensitive to sunlight.


Dosage forms

You can use AVITA Gel only once a day. For example, in the evening, apply it to the skin where acne lesions occur. You should use enough this gel to cover the entire affected area. Application can cause a transient feeling of warmth or slight stinging. In cases where it has been necessary to temporarily stop therapy or decrease the frequency of application, therapy can be resumed or frequency of application increased when the patients become tolerant to the treatment.

During the early weeks of therapy, you can notice an apparent increase in number of inflammatory acne lesions. Do not worry, it is temporary phenomenon and it should not be considered as a reason to stop therapy. You can notice some improvements after 2-3 weeks, but more than 6 weeks of therapy may be required before these improvements can be seen. Patients treated with AVITA Gel may use cosmetics, but the affected areas should be cleansed thoroughly before the medicine is applied.
