What is BroveX

BroveX (brompheniramine) is a medication that refers to a class of medications called antihistamines. It works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms. This medication is effective to sneezing; runny nose; itching, watery eyes; hives; rashes; itching; and other symptoms of allergies and the common cold.


Side effects of BroveX

BroveX common side effects can be:

  • drowsiness
  • dry mouth, nose, and throat
  • nausea
  • headache
  • chest congestion
  • vision problems
  • difficulty urinating


Indication

BroveX is effective to relieve red, irritated, itchy, watery eyes; sneezing; and runny nose caused by allergies, hay fever, and the common cold. It helps control symptoms, but does not treat the cause of the symptoms or speed recovery. It is not recommended to use this medication in children in order to not cause sleepiness.


Precautions

Stop taking BroveX if you:

  • are allergic to BroveX or any other medications.
  • take any other prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products. Be sure to mention any of the following: medications for colds, hay fever, or allergies; medications for depression or seizures; monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam, Zelapar), and tranylcypromine (Parnate); muscle relaxants; narcotic medications for pain; sedatives; sleeping pills; and tranquilizers.
  • have or have ever had asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or other breathing problems; glaucoma (a condition in which increased pressure in the eye can lead to gradual loss of vision); ulcers; difficulty urinating (due to an enlarged prostate gland); heart disease; high blood pressure; seizures; or an overactive thyroid gland.
  • tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking brovex, call your doctor.
  • are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while taking pindolol, call your doctor.

  • It is very important to note that this medication may make you drowsy. It is not recommended to drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you.

    Alcohol consumption can also add to the drowsiness caused by this drug.
