What is Doral

Doral (quazepam) is a prescription sleep medicine that related to a group of medications known as benzodiazepines. It is effective in the treatment of insomnia. It is generally recommended for short-term use, although occasional long-term use may be appropriate. Doral is produced by Questcor Pharmaceuticals.


Side effects of Doral

The most common side effects of Doral are:

  • Daytime drowsiness
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
  • Indigestion or heartburn


Indication

Doral is used to treat insomnia. Insomnia symptoms include the followings:

  • Difficulty falling asleep
  • Waking up often in the middle of the night and having trouble going back to sleep
  • Waking up too early in the morning and not being able to go back to sleep
  • Non-refreshing sleep

There are several types of insomnia. They are often based on how long the insomnia lasts and how often it occurs. They include:

  • Short-term insomnia (acute insomnia)
  • Long-term insomnia (chronic insomnia)
  • Insomnia that comes and goes (transient insomnia)


Precautions

Dosage forms

Doral dose for Insomnia

The recommended dose of Doral for treating insomnia is typically 15 mg, taken at bedtime. For elderly people or people with other medical problems, your doctor prescribe a low dose- Doral 7.5 mg at bedtime.
