Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) is a muscle relaxant. Definitely, Flexiril decreases muscle spasm. Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) has no influence on muscle function. Work this medicine consists in blocking nerve impulses that are referred to your brain.
Side effects of Flexeril
There are common side effects of cyclobenzaprine such as drowsiness, fatigue, dry mouth, headaches, dizziness, bad appetite, pain in stomach, nausea; diarrhea, constipation, gas, muscle weakness. Rare side effects are nausea, blurred vision, constipation, nervousness, confusion, abdominal pain, convulsions, and unusual behavior, seeing different things, easy bruising, and knockout weakness.
Indication
Flexeril is appointed as physical therapy for easing of muscle spasm occurs with strong painful musculoskeletal conditions. Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) should be taken only for short periods cos this medicine in not for more prolonged usage.
Precautions
There are precautions for this medication:
- Be more careful if taking OTCs.
- May get drowsiness.
- May shake driving.
Do not take cyclobenzaprine if you have:
- a rhythm disorder of heart;
- congestive heart failure;
- heart block;
- overactive thyroid;
Before taking cyclobenzaprine, be sure that you do not have (if needed ask your doctor):
- problems with urination;
- enlarged prostate.
- glaucoma;
- liver disease;
Dosage forms
For most patients the recommended dose of Frelexil is 5 mg three times a day. According to individual patient response, Frelexil dose may be raised to 10 mg three times a day. It is not recommended to use of Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) for more than two or three weeks.
