Inova is an antibacterial medication that is used to treat acnes. It has a mild drying effect allowing to wash away oils and dirt from the skin.
It is very important to note that inova is for external use only. Do not let inova get into your eyes, nose or mouth and do not swallow it. Do not apply dressings, bandages, cosmetics, lotions or other skin medications to the area being treated unless your doctor tells you. You should keep inova away from your hair and colored fabrics because it may bleach them.
Side effects of Inova
The common side effects of inova include the followings:
- dryness or peeling of skin
- feeling of warmth
- tingling
- slight stinging
- burning
- blistering
- itching
- redness
- rash
- swelling
Indication
The most common forms of Inova include cleansing liquid or bar, lotion, cream and gel for use on the skin. It is used 1-2 times daily. You should start with once daily to see how your skin reacts to this medication. It is very important to follow the directions on the package or on your prescription label carefully.
Precautions
You should not use inova if you:
- have allergic reactions to inova or any other drugs
- take other prescription and nonprescription medications or vitamins
- are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are breastfeeding
Dosage forms
Usual Adult Dose for Acne
For topical application: One application applied to the affected area once or twice a day. A thin film should be applied after washing, avoiding eyes, lips and mucous membranes.
For cleansing: You should wash affected areas once or twice daily. Wet skin and apply to areas, massage gently into skin for 10 to 20 seconds and work into a lather, then rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
Lavoclen (R) Creamy Wash: You should shake it well before using. Then wash the affected areas once a day during the first week and twice a day thereafter as tolerated. Wet skin areas to be treated; apply Creamy Wash, work to a full lather, rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Frequency of use should be adjusted to obtain the desired clinical response. Clinically visible improvement will normally occur by the third week of therapy. Maximum lesion reduction may be expected after approximately eight to twelve weeks of drug use. Continuing use of the drug is normally required to maintain a satisfactory clinical response.
