Jalyn is a medication that decreases the size of the enlarged prostate. The components of the medication are effective in relieving the symptoms of BPH such as difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream and the need to urinate frequently. Jalyn is available only by prescription. Jalyn is widely known as dutasteride and tamsulosin hydrochloride. Dutasteride is a selective inhibitor of both the type 1 and type 2 isoforms of steroid 5 alpha-reductase.
Side effects of Jalyn
The medication can cause the following side effects:
- decrease in sex drive
- decrease in the amount of semen released during sex
- hives
- impotence
- itching
- rash
- swelling of the lips or face
- swelling or tenderness
- breast enlargement
Indication
Jalyn includes such ingredients as dutasteride and tamsulosin. Dutasteride is aimed to prevent the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the human body. DHT is one of the reasons of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) progressing. Tamsulosin belongs to the class of medications known as alpha-adrenergic blockers. This component helps to relax the prostate muscles and makes the process of urination easier. Jalyn is effective in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men whose prostate is enlarged.
Precautions
You should inform your doctor if you have:
- low blood pressure
- high blood pressure (hypertension)
- liver disease
- severe kidney disease
- a history of prostate cancer
- if you are allergic to sulfa drugs or to finasteride (Propecia, Proscar)
Dosage forms
Jalyn is released in capsules. The dose should be determined by the doctor. The standart dose of Jalyn is 1capsule taken orally once daily, 30 minutes after meal. For the better result it is recommended to take this medicine at the same time each day. You should not crush, chew, or open a Jalyn capsule in order to avoid irritation of your lips, mouth and throat. It is important to complete the course of the treatment by this medication. You should keep the medicine at room temperature and protect from moisture and heat.
