Lexapro (escitalopram oxalate) is used in depression and depression anxiety. This medicine is called as antidepressant. It influences on chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and provoke anxiety or depression. Lexapro is taken for treating anxiety in old person and teenagers (12 years old).
Side effects of Lexapro (escitalopram oxalate)
There are more common side effects: diarrhea; nausea; dizziness, dry mouth; raised sweating; stomach gas; heartburn; inability to keep an erection; sex problem; problem sexual ability, undesired feelings, drive; pain in stomach; insomnia; problem with sleeping; cannot sleep; decreased interest in sexual intercourse; unusual drowsiness There are less common side effects: abdominal pain; bad appetite; coughing; fever; feeling of discomfort; headaches; muscle pain ; sex problem; pain in eyes and cheekbones; shivering; problem with breathing; sneezing; stuffy nose; sore throat, wheezing; sleeping trouble; unusual weakness; vomiting.
Indication
For the treatment of major depressive disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
Precautions
Consult your doctor while taking Lexapro if you have:
- A family history of bipolar disorder (depression);
- Suicide actions or suicidal thinking;
- A history of a heart attack or unstable heart disease;
- Diabetes;
- Epilepsy;
- Liver disease;
- Allergies to food, dyes, or preservatives;
Let your doctor know if you:
- Are pregnant or decide to become pregnant;
- Are breastfeeding;
- Alcohol problem;
Dosage forms

10 mg once a day - recommended Lexapro dosage. If needed, the doctor may raise the dose of this medicine to 20 mg after of one week minimum, but the higher dose will not be recommended for most senior adults and people who have had problems with their liver.
