What is Metimyd

Metimyd is a prescription and non-prescription steroid and antibiotic eye drops. It includes sulfacetamide , an antibiotic, that is aimed for treating bacterial infections. Metimyd also contains prednisolone, a steroid that is effective in the treatment of the swelling occurring due to bacterial infections of the eye.


Side effects of Metimyd

Commonly, Metimyd does not cause serious side effects. Although in some cases it may cause:

  • burning
  • stinging
  • irritation
  • itching
  • redness
  • blurred vision
  • eyelid itching
  • eyelid swelling
  • sensitivity to light


Indication

Metimyd is aimed for treating eye infections. It is used to treat inflammatory and allergic disease of the eye especially when antibacterial effect is required.

Precautions

You should discuss with your doctor if you can use this medicine if you have:

  • eye surgeries
  • eye problems
  • contact lens use
  • any allergies
  • breast-feeding



Dosage forms

This medicine is available in a form of drops. The dosage should be determined by the doctor, because everyone’s case is different. The common dose is 2 or 3 drops should be every 1 or 2 hours during the day and in some cases at night.
