What is Nasex

Nasex is a medication that is aimed to give a temporary relief of nasal congestion caused by colds, flu or hayfever.



Side effects of Nasex

Nasex may cause the following side effects:

  • joint pain
  • asthma
  • bronchitis
  • chest pain
  • conjunctivitis
  • diarrhea
  • upset stomach or indigestion
  • earaches
  • muscle pain
  • nausea


Indication

Nasex is effective in the treatment of nasal symptoms such as congestion, sneezing and runny nose caused by seasonal or year-round allergies. This medication is also aimed for treating growths in the nose (nasal polyps) in adults. It contains the combination of guaifenesin and phenylephrine which is used to treat stuffy nose and sinus congestion and to decrease chest congestion caused by the common cold or flu.


Precautions

You should discuss the usage of this medication with your doctor if you have one of the following conditions:

  • heart disease or high blood pressure
  • diabetes
  • circulation problems
  • glaucoma
  • overactive thyroid
  • enlarged prostate or problems with urination


Dosage forms

The recommended dose for adults and children over 6 years: 1-2 sprays in each nostril - may be repeated up to 2-3 times a day. If symptoms persist longer than 5 days consult your doctor.
