Topical sulfuris a medicine that causes drying and peeling of the skin allowing excess oil and dirt to be easily washed away. Sulfur topical is benificial in acne treatment.
Side effects of Topical sulfur
Topical sulfur usually does not cause any serious side effects, but you may have an allergic reaction (shortness of breath; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, face or tongue; or hives).
You may also have noticed some burning, stinging, tingling, itching, redness, dryness, peeling or irritation while you are using this medicine. If these side effects are excessive, you should apply sulfur topical less often.
Indication
Sulfur is used for treating many kinds of skin disorders. Sulfur cream, lotion, ointment and bar soap are effective in acne treatment. Sulfur ointment treats seborrheic dermatitis and scabies.
Precautions
It is not recommended to use sulfur topical on sunburned, windburned, dry, chapped or irritated skin or on open wounds. You should avoid using other topical products on the same area unless otherwise directed to do so by your doctor, because they may interfere with the effects or absorption of sulfur topical.
Please, do not cover the area after applying sulfur topical, unless otherwise directed by your doctor, because it may be harmful. It is also important to avoid using harsh, abrasive or irritating cleansers, perfumes or cosmetics on the area you are treating.
Dosage forms
Adult dose for Acne:
Cream and bar form: use on the skin as needed.
Lotion form: use on the skin 2 or 3 times a day.
Pediatric Dose for Acne:
Cream and bar form: use on the skin as needed.
Lotion form: use on the skin 2 or 3 times a day.
