Urised is a medicine that is aimed to treat symptoms of the urinary tract due to urinary tract infections or diagnostic procedures. Urised is a combination of an antiseptic, analgesic and anticholinergic ingredients. It acts by helping to kill bacteria in the urine, decreasing pain and inflammation and declining muscle spasms in the urinary tract. It helps to relieve discomfort while urinating.
Side effects of Urised
This medicine can cause the following side effects:
- severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue)
- blurred vision
- difficulty urinating
- dizziness
- fast or irregular heartbeat
Indication
Urised relieves lower urinary tract discomfort triggered by inflammation or diagnostic procedures. This medication is effective in the treatment of urinary tract infections including cystitis (inflammation of the bladder and ureters), urethritis (inflammation of the urethra) and trigonitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane of the bladder). The main component, methenamine works as a mild antiseptic by changing into formaldehyde in the urinary tract when it comes in contact with acidic urine.
Precautions
You should not use this medication if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Urised
- you have had a severe allergic reaction
- you have angle-closure glaucoma
- you are taking a sulfonamide
- you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding
- you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation or dietary supplement
- you have allergies to medicines, foods or other substances
- you have constipation, diarrhea, an infection of the stomach or bowel, a hiatal hernia or stomach ulcers
- you have nervous system problems
- you have a history of stroke or brain blood vessel problems
- you are on a low-salt diet
Dosage forms
The treatment plan should be determined by your doctor. The standard dose of Urised is 2 tablets taken 4 times a day.
