Xyzal is an antihistamine medicine that acts by blocking a human body substance known as histamine. This medicine declines allergy symptoms and hives.
Side effects of Xyzal
Xyzal may cause the following side effects:
- feeling like you might pass out
- nosebleed (especially in a child)
- pain or fullness in your ear, hearing problems
- depression, agitation, aggression, hallucinations
- numbness or tingling around your lips or mouth
- jaundice (yellowing of your skin or eyes) dark-colored urine, foul-smelling stools
- fever, stomach pain, loss of appetite
- drowsiness, weakness
- tired feeling
- stuffy nose, sinus pain, sore throat, cough
- vomiting, diarrhea, constipation
- dry mouth
- weight gain
Indication
Xyzal decreases the effects of natural chemical called histamine in the body. Histamine causes some symptoms as sneezing, itching, watery eyes and runny nose. Xyzal is benefitial in the treatment of year-round (perennial) and seasonal allergies in adults and children.This medication is also effective in the treatment of itching and swelling caused by chronic urticaria (hives).
Precautions
You should not take this medication if you have:
- liver disease
- kidney disease
- gallbladder problems
Dosage forms
You should discuss the treatment plan with your doctor. It is usually recommended to take Xyzal once per day with or without food. It is recommended to take the medicine in the evening. If it is liquid Xyzal, measure it with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup. You should keep this medicine at room temperature and protect from moisture and heat.
