What is Zarah

Zarah (drospirenone/ethinyl estradiol) is an oral contraceptive that prevents pregnancy. It prevents ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary) and also cause changes in your cervical and uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus.

Side effects of Zarah

The possible side effects of zarah include:

    Nausea or vomiting
  • Vaginal discharge
  • Headaches
  • Menstrual changes or problems
  • Breast pain
  • Abdominal pain (stomach pain)
  • Flu symptoms such as fever or chills
  • Acne
  • Vaginal yeast infection
  • Diarrhea
  • Back pain

Indication

Zarah usually contains 2 types of hormones, estrogens and progestins. This medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It works by stopping a woman's egg from fully developing each month. The egg can no longer accept a sperm and fertilization is prevented. Although oral contraceptives have other effects that help prevent a pregnancy from occurring, this is the main action.

This medicine is also beneficial in the treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). PMDD is a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Women with PMDD may suffer from severe emotional and physical symptoms 10-14 days before their menstrual flow starts.

In some cases, Zarah is used to treat acne in women at least 14 years of age who have already started menstruating and choose to use a birth control pill to prevent pregnancy .

Dosage forms

Zarah dose for birth control

you should start at the beginning of the pack, take one tablet at the same time each day. Each pack will last for 28 days (4 weeks). When you finish one pack, you should immediately start a new one. The first 21 tablets (which are yellow) contain the active ingredients. The last seven tablets (the white ones) do not contain any active ingredients. By taking these tablets, your body gets a break from the hormones, allowing you to have a period.

When you take zarah for the first time, you can start it either on the first day of your period or on the first Sunday after your period starts. If you start Yasmin on the first day of your period (a "day 1 start"), you do not need any backup contraception. If you choose a Sunday start, you need to use a backup method of contraception (such as condoms) for the first week. If the first day of your period happens to be on a Sunday, treat this as a day 1 start (no backup needed). If you switch from another type of birth control pill, start taking Yasmin on the day you would normally start a new pack of birth control pills (no backup necessary).
