Obesity rates increases in the south of the U.S.A

According to the recent statistics obesity rates in the U.S.A increased in 16 states.
The researchers from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Trust for America's Health stated that obesity rates rose up to 30% in 12 states. In the South 9 of 10 states have the highest obesity rates in America, in the West and Northeast- the lowest. Mississippi is in first place and Colorado has an obesity rate of less than 20%. The obesity rate was only 15% 20 years ago in the U.S.A.
Since 1995, obesity rates have increased by 90% in 10 states and have doubled in another 7. The highest obesity rates have been in Tennessee, Alabama and Oklahoma, the lowest- in Colorado and Washington.
Obesity raises the risk of developing several diseases, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, sleep apnea, some cancers, and osteoarthritis.
According to the research diabetes and hypertension rates in the U.S.A have increased greatly over the last 20 years. In 8 states the number of people with diabetes has doubled since 1995. In 1995, just 4 states had diabetes rates of 6%+, in comparison with 43 states which today have rates of 7%+. In 32 states the diabetes rate is over 8%.
