Contaminated cheese

27.12.11

A recent research reported that 231 cases of Canadian cheese can be contaminated with listeria. Cedar brand Tresse and Shinglish cheeses delivered before December 13 can be also contaminated.

Researchers got to know that the cheeses were distributed in Southern California to Mediterranean specialty markets.

The 2 cheeses were made and recalled by Fromagerie Marie Kade, in Quebec, Canada.

The Shinglish cheese carries lot number 78546 10000. The Tresse cheese has lot number 78546 01000.

The listeria monocytogenes organism is life-threating, because it can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or older people and others with weakened immune systems.

The researchers warn that you should be very careful when buy cheese.
