There is a potential risk of brain tumor in people with hypertension

11.01.12

Researchers from Sweden, Austria and Norway found out that people suffering from high blood pressure may have an increased risk of developing brain tumors.

The researchers analyzed health records over 10 years of 580000 patients and found that the overall risk is double for people with the highest blood pressure levels in comparison with those who have the lowest.

It is also harmless for people with meningioma and high blood pressure. The most common tumors that were detected during the study were meningioma and glioma.

However, the researchers did not know whether the participants were taking any medication for treating hypertension which could have affected the results.

They have stated that more examination is needed before they can exactly say that high blood pressure increases the risk of brain tumors.
