Pain during menstrual period can be relieved by oral contraceptive pill

Nowadays 50-75% of young women suffer from painful periods which causes them to be absent from school or work.
Menstrual period pain or dysmenorrhoea can completely throw women off gear during those times in the month.
A recent study made by scientists has found out that the combined oral contraceptive pill can be used as a pain reliever during menstrual periods.
Lead researcher Dr Ingela Lindh, from Gothenburg University, stated:
"The usage of combined oral contraceptive decreased dysmenorrhoea by 0.3 units, it means that every third woman went one step down from severe pain to moderate pain and it meant that they suffered less pain, improved their working ability and there also was a decrease in the need for analgesics.”
