Breastfed babies have decreased chances to become angry

17.02.12

According to a new study, breastfed babies have low chances to grow up angry and irritable in comparison with bottle-fed babies.

Scientists suppose that the warm attachment to their mother makes them more mild-mannered and less hostile in later life.

They studied almost 2,000 people for 24 years and found out that those who were not breastfed as infants had higher levels of hostility, particularly cynicism and paranoia, in adulthood than their peers.

Dr Paivi Merjonen, of the University of Turku in Finland, stated:

"This population-based study showed that breastfeeding may have long-term effects on offspring hostility. Those who were not breastfed in infancy had higher levels of adult hostility than those who were breastfed."

It is evident that the psychological benefits are acquired during the first 6 months as the study showed that longer-term breast- feeding of more than a year did not lead to even lower hostility.

It goes without saying that breastfeeding is very important for babies. I do not understand those moms that do not breastfeed their babies because their breast can be deformed

A very nice information. Breast milk can help much in the development of babies.
